Nikos Stamatis

and

"Nikos Stamatis Museum"

Nikos Stamatis was born on March 30, 1941 in the village of Sysklipos. In the 1960s he lived for a while in London and when he returned to Cyprus he built his own souvenir shop and items on Ledras Street in Nicosia. In the early 1970s he married Giannoula and lived in Mammari. In 1974 he fought during the Turkish invasion. His first store was located on the green line of Ledra and so he had to start all over again.

In the middle of the 70's Nikos Stamatis dealt with the Association EN. Rotsidis Mammari in which he served as president for 18 years. During these years, the privately owned building of the Association was built and the privately owned stadium of Rotsidis Mammari was constructed. Rotsidis's football team during these years excelled in the fourth, third and second division with several distinctions.

His new professional hangout with old objects was created in the Popular Neighborhood in Nicosia in the late 1970s. He remained in the same neighborhood for about 25 years and at the beginning of the 21st century began to build his own Museum in Mammari. At the same time he organized a group of craftsmen of old professions and folk art with whom he participated in festivals such as that of Ayia Napa, the Flood and others, throughout Cyprus for 30 years. The Museum was a dream of a life that was not completed as the collection of objects was always continuous and uninterrupted. His goal was to present objects of folk art and history, tools, machines and other objects taken through time!

The Nikos Stamatis Museum was inaugurated in 2015. Nikos Stamatis passed away in 2019 and the management of the Museum was taken over by his four children. They aim to preserve the Museum and upgrade it to a place for the presentation of important exhibits. At the same time, with the aim of utilization, the Nikos Stamatis Museum has objects for sale.

Objects of the last century, tools, antiques, machines, furniture, plates, bottles, are gathered in seven rooms and a large outdoor space.
